Welcome to the blog for Madame Bush’s Grade 4/5 Extended French class.  Here you will find a brief overview of what we will be working on for the month, as well as any homework handouts for reference at home. I hope you find it useful in helping your child be successful at school.

January at a glance:   **REMINDER: FRIDAY, JANUARY 17 IS A PA DAY. There will be no school for students on that day.* French:  In French, we are continuing to build our vocabulary related to descriptive language, with a focus on comparative adjectives, adverbs, foods, and leisure activities.  We will continue to use the appropriate forms of adjectives and adverbs in our writing. We will write letters and use the imperative verb forms to write procedures. In reading, we will continue to develop reading strategies to help identify the meanings of unfamiliar words and look at the characteristics of graphic texts. We will apply what we learn in reading responses based on simple French texts which the students will select on their own. October at a glance:  **REMINDER: FRIDAY, OCTOBER 11 IS A PA DAY AND MONDAY, OCTOBER 14 IS THANKSGIVING HOLIDAY.** French: In French, we are continuing to build our vocabulary, introducing places around town and the verb forms of ALLER.  We will be working on using the appropriate forms of adjectives in our writing to write an effective description. In reading, we will continue to develop reading strategies to help identify the meanings of unfamiliar words.
